Hey Simple Treasures:

As you know, beginning September 14th of 2019 was the day we launched our very new podcast.
If you're on our mailing list, then you received the email about the new things that we've just
premiered and if you haven't, we urge you to go to the website and have a great time exploring and add yourself to our mailing list.

We are writing to let you know that so far so good the podcast is doing very well (thanks to you) and we are just getting started. For those who have just gotten wind of our beginning, please see below a summary of what our podcast is about and the information we've shared with you thus far.

QS Simple Treasures Podcast is a platform we use to share our journey as our business grows but more so about giving you information, resources and tips to help you get started if you want to start a business. Not only do we share that, but we indulge in the other half of the business, the human side of pushing forward and maintaining through it all.

BCC Business Expo & Ice Social Update

A Wonderful Success!!!

Hello my Simple Treasures:

Just wanted to kidnap my blog right quick and let you know that the Bellflower Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and Ice Cream Social was a success. As you know QS Simple Treasures Greetings & Collections is a online company dedicated to greetings and gift ideas that has finally developed enough product to now begin entering the vending world; and its been good so far. After all, we're only four vendor events in. We are learning as we grow and if we keep up this pace, who knows where we will be in the future. 

So what have we learned from prior and recent events? We've learned the following:

• Count Check Inventory: Do it a couple of days before the event so that you can restore what you don't have and see what you need.
• Create a Task and Need List: Write down all that you need and go over this list often to make sure you have everything and it's packed in with your product. 
• Condense and Organize Inventory: Find containers that allow all of your products to fit and be condensed. This cuts down on having more than you need.
• Come early - Early worm gets to choose their spot and when you do you can get the table closest to where the customers arrive.
• The Set Up - Make sure that your area is set up nice, neat and organize your products accordingly. 
• Giveaways and or Participation - Have something to give away with or without purchase. Or a pick your name game or whatever your innovative thoughts. This excites the potential customer and kind of keeps you in their memory, and who knows, they may buy right then or come back and buy. 
• Acknowledge Fellow Vendors - If you get set up early, before the event begins take time to visit all of the fellow vendors area. Introduce yourself, share your business and give your business card. In turn, ask them about their business, indulge in their information and retrieve their business cards. This establishes the tone of the customer service you provide which shows everyone how to be and/or your expectation as well.
• Potential Customers Visiting Your Area - Be all smiles. Ignore your phone. Know your product. Represent your product. Give short summaries and prices. Be engaging, authentic and let fate take its course. 

These are just the basics and as time goes on I will share more. But this was a wonderful and gracious experience. People were welcoming and open to our table and just the event period. Please see our set up below:

Fear Can't Go Where We're Headed . . .

It's me the CEO, dropping a note, hacking my own blog. 😊😁So I'm setting up this presentation for an upcoming potential store hosting opportunity. Wow! You'd be surprised how fast time moves. Never really thought we'd get here, but here we are. I can't lie, I'm super nervous, and afraid because this is truly uncharted territory for me but in the words of Beyonce "Fear can't go where I'm headed". So we will see if where I'm headed, will be the destination I seek.

Actually, who am I kidding? It will be whatever God say and I'm great with that. Just want to leave you with this. It's okay to feel what you feel when you're going after something you want. It means you're close, it means it's exciting, it means, you're doing what you're supposed to do. So keep moving ahead, even if it doesn't turn out to be what you wanted, or expected, take the experience and learn what you can from it. Because, all that means is, God has something better and that experience was to push you to get ready. Say a prayer for my team and I, and I will pop back in to update you.

1. Easy one first, can you tell me your name and your business? 

My name is Quanda R. Graves. The name of my business is QS Simple Treasures Greetings & Collections.

2. What is your USP (Unique selling proposition) or the 30 second elevator pitch you would use to describe your business and what makes it special to a stranger?

QS Simple Treasures Greetings & Collections is a company dedicated to greetings and gift ideas. We have greetings that are thematic, hand drawn illustrated with messages that are clear and concise with your heart in mind, at golden aged prices. They are small greetings with very BIG sentiments. 

We have our oolong tea that is healthy for you, the taste and aroma are nothing short of amazing and autographed poems with great messages of inspiration make for wonderful gifts and much more. 

 Our motto says: You don't need a holiday to celebrate a loved one. Celebrate everyday because tomorrow is not promised. That's what makes us different. 

3. What’s your background? What inspired you to start your business? How did you get to where you are today?

3a. My background consists of many things: Author, poet, journalist and a businesswoman who loves creativity and art. 
3b. What inspired me to start my own business? Well, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. My family always had something they were doing outside of their jobs. As I grew older I started to see, learn the true value of just what entrepreneurial really meant and I’ve worked to create that for me, and having my own business has been my dream. I now run under the moniker of creative business is my business. 
3c. I landed here today by plan and action (along with a whole lot of prayer). LOL! Oh and of course, passion, belief in myself, my dreams with drive, ambition and determination. 

4. How does your experience help you run your business?

 Outside of being an author, poet, journalist and current businesswoman, I’ve held a few corporate positions and those positions past and present is what helps me run my business. The skill set for those positions require organization, budget management, customer service, have the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships. As well as schedule travel arrangements, meetings, management expertise, articulate visions, ideas and suggestions, Microsoft Office and so much more. However, to condense, all of those elements, I’m rooted from, that’s what I apply to my business, that’s how I administer my endeavors.

5. Tell us about your products or the services you offer? What are they? What makes them stand out from your competitors?

QS Simple Treasures Greetings & Collections consists of a couple of products and building. So far they are the following: 1. Dreams “Are Meant To Be Lived” Oolong Tea, which is seasonal and hosted every year September – January with pre-orders July and August. 2. The newly launched thematic hand drawn illustrated poetically versed greeting cards. 3. Last but not at all least we have our very own line of cups hitting the summer 2020. What makes my products stand out from our competitors (although I don’t view business that way) are a few things: Uniqueness, price point and approaches in regard to our marketing strategy.

6. If you had to pick 3 or 4 highlights or “best bits” of your business to point out to a customer, what would you tell them?

The best bits to point out to customers would be the following: Our greetings are cute/ golden age priced with short and sweet messages that leave a big impact long after. If we discuss the Dreams “Are Meant To Be Lived” Oolong Tea, those best bits would be; it’s linked to a message that everyone can apply in life, you can’t get the tea any where else and it’s amazingly delicious and comes with its own poem, provided the package you choose.
